FIRE IN THE KOPAČKI RIT NATURE PARK

On Wednesday, July 20, in the early afternoon, the firefighters were informed that smoke had been detected in the Mali bajar forest area. When the firefighters arrived at the scene of the fire, it was determined that the exact location was the Lanište area, section 60a in the economic unit “Kopačevské Dunavska šume”. According to the first estimates, in the fire that the firefighters from Osijek and the surrounding DVDs localized by 19:30, about 40 ha of grass and dried low vegetation burned. Since the burned area is part of the area covered by the Naturavita project, professional associates Boris Ljubojević and Zdenko Turniški went to the area on July 21 to record the consequences of the fire. During a tour of the terrain, taking photos from the ground and from the air with a drone (mapping the fire area), they determined that the fire had started again, and that in a mine-suspected area. Fire crews arrived within half an hour, and with the help of pyrotechnicians, extinguished the newly flared fire.  On this occasion, approx. 10 ha of low vegetation and dry grass burned. It is important to point out that the re-start of the fire was observed when mapping the fire area with a drone, that is, from the air, and that it was observed by employees of Croatian Forests using modern technology.
