The fire breaks with forest elements has the main purpose of the passage of fire trucks to the fire, but also the passage of the monitoring and reporting service as part of the preventive protection of forests from fire. Restoration and construction of forest fire infrastructure will improve the protection of forests and forest land in the Naturavit project area and mitigate the negative impacts of biotic and abiotic factors on forest ecosystems. A total of 32.98 km of fire breaks with elements of the forest road are planned to be built in the project area, and 21.71 km have been built so far. At the beginning of February, three more fire breaks with elements of the forest road were completed: Veliko polje IV (628.7 m), Carske livade (1009.91 m) and Prutnjak (917.62 m) in the economic unit “Darđanske šume” managed by the Darda forestry. The total value of the works is HRK 1,042,313.54, of which 85% is financed by EU funds. The works were performed by the company JET – SET d.o.o. Vrbanja, and during the execution of works all activities are adjusted to the conditions of nature protection. It should be emphasized that in 2020, 11 fire breaks with elements of the forest road with a total length of 19.7 km were contracted, and so far 8 total lengths of 13.22 km have been built.
