The kick off conference of project „Demining, restoration and protection of forests and forest land in protected and Natura 2000 areas in the Danube-Drava regions – Naturavita“ was held at the Hotel Osijek, On Tuesday, October 1st, 2019..
Igor Fazekaš, a member of the Croatian Forests Board, greeted those present on behalf of the hosts at the beginning of the conference. Mario Spajić, deputy head of the Croatian Waters – VGO Osijek , Tomislav Bogdanović, director of the Public Institution Nature park „Kopački rit“ , Nataša Dankić, head of the department for technical verification of environmental and nature projects in the Level 2 Intermediate Body Of the Fund for Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency, Damir Trut, envoy of the Minister of the Interior ,Domagoj Mikulić, envoy of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia Andrej Plenković and Kristina Bilić, envoy of the President of the Republic of Croatia Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic and Assistant Minister for Regional Development and EU Funds gave shorter speeches. They repeatedly emphasized the importance of the project for the County of Osijek-Baranja, as well as the whole of Croatia in the context of economic and tourist development, as well as the safety of the population. After presenting activities, completed and planned items by Naturavita project manager Marija Herceg, a tour of the project area was followed.
