Earth Day has been officially celebrated since 1992 when a far-reaching program to promote sustainable development was coordinated during a UN Conference on Environment and Development in Rio de Janeiro, attended by a large number of government and non-governmental representatives.
Earth Day has been organized in Croatia since 1990.
