50 Measuring Columns For Recent Sedimentation Have Been Installed

Within Activity 7.2. Naturavita project – Implementation of exploration works, establishment of a system and monitoring, with interpretation of results, Research and monitoring of recent sedimentation in the area of Kopački rit Nature Park, 50 measuring columns for recent sedimentation in order to monitor how much alluvial sediment is deposited in certain areas, and how much is eroded. The area is under the constant influence of the flow of water that gives the rhythm of creation and destruction in the area of the Park. Due to the visible trend of decreasing wetlands and water surfaces in low-water periods, the need to determine the dynamics of sedimentation changes was observed. Measuring columns were placed at representative locations, over the entire surface of the Kopački rit Nature Park. Measuring columns for recent sedimentation covered the areas of Čonakut kanal, Kopačevsko jezero, Bijelo jezero, Hulovski kanal, Podravlje-Sakadaš area, Sakadaš-Zlatna greda, Compoš, Vemeljski Dunavac, Semenča. The locations of the measuring columns were recorded with a GPS device, and fluorescent floats were placed on each column so that they could be easily seen in the field. The measuring columns will be read during the monitoring. A sedimentation / erosion map will be prepared for each measurement period, and a map of sedimentation / erosion trends / gradients will be prepared after each year. All collected data will be synthesized and interpreted with the aim of defining the spatial and temporal dynamics of sedimentation processes in certain parts of the Kopački rit Nature Park.
