The activity of restoration and construction of forest fire-fighting infrastructure contributes to the achievement of Specific Objective 3: Improve the protection of forests and forest land in the Naturavita project area and mitigate the negative impacts of biotic and abiotic factors on forest ecosystems. The implementation of this activity will provide active fire protection, especially in the season of increased risk of forest fires. In the project area, this is the period immediately before the movement of vegetation in early spring. Within the project activity Reconstruction and construction of forest fire-fighting infrastructure, it is planned to build a total of 32.98 km of fire breaks with elements of the forest road, and 27.67 km have been built so far. In the first quarter of 2021, three more fire breaks with elements of the forest road were completed: Cuc (1,678 km), Stara Drava (1,368 km) and Dravica V (2,906 km) in the economic unit “Kopačevske podunavske šume” managed by the Darda forestry. The total value of the works is HRK 2,291,801.52, of which 85% is financed by EU funds. The works were performed by the company JET – SET d.o.o. Vrbanja. It should be emphasized that in 2020, 11 fire breaks with elements of the forest road with a total length of 19.17 km were contracted, and now this contract has been fully implemented. Until the completion of this activity, it is still necessary to build fire break with elements of the forest road Tvrđavica – Darda, which is planned by the end of 2021.
